NEEM REDUCES the CARBON FOOTPRINT
The "Sustainable revolution" has its roots in sustainable agriculture. Something that is quickly forgotten or
sidelined in the development process as sustainable concepts evolve. Large Development and other financially driven avenues
with higher margins tend to shadow this fact. So, we must look to that and point to it when we are able to.
At N.E.E.M. we are suggesting the relevance to the environment and the impact sustainable agriculture has on the CARBON
FOOTPRINT. The largest industry in the United States is the agricultural industry, its supply line's and production chain.
Reduction of chemical inputs through use of Biological alternatives and sustainable agriculture in general impacts the CARBON
FOOTPRINT. Agriculture in the United States is the third largest contributor to the CARBON FOOTPRINT with Industry and Automobiles
in the fore-front. This does not take into consideration the fact that portions of industry are directly related to agriculture
(shipping/procurement, processing, manufacturing and production). We are also quick to note that every city, corporation and
institution in the United States, who occupy large tracts of land, use chemical pesticides and fertilizers to maintain the
properties they control. The negative impact is enormous, yet while groups quickly embrace "Green Building" Technology
in structures, they continue not to embrace the simple notion that to be truly sustainable you must also treat the supporting
infrastructures in the same way. In many cases this is the first and least expensive step that should be taken.
Alternatives to chemicals in these areas, will promote sustainability at the grass root level where it was born, the farm.
In that process it promotes the alternative to conventional farmers to move towards sustainable agriculture by virtue of increased
supply on a commercial level of naturally occurring, yearly harvestable, biological alternatives.
This reduces price point's to all parties and increases capability, furthering support of sustainability in general, sustainable
agriculture itself and removes millions of tons of toxic material from the atmosphere improving the CARBON FOOTPRINT.
"In terms of global emissions, agriculture is believed to be responsible for 25% of CO2, 65% of methane and 90% of
nitrous oxide emitted. Modern processes such as use of machinery over man and animal power, global trading and increased use
of fertilizers and other so called "agro-chemicals" has already made agriculture an energy intensive process in
the developed world and is still in the process of doing the same thing in the developing world."
Since 1995 N.E.E.M. is an activist non profit organization involved in local and global Community Sustainable development.
The goal is simply complex; increase Neem production capability (supply), reduce the CARBON FOOTPRINT, provide an alternative
to conventional methods that is sustainable, provide sustainable economies to minorities in countries where Neem grows and
reduce incidence of malaria, dengue and HIV/AIDS in the process, all with one natural product - neem. Focus is the African
Diaspora, the Latin basin and Cuba.
In the process we increase supply and address in a sustainable way environmental issues that reduce the CARBON FOOTPRINT.
