YOU can make a difference!

MAKE A DONATION

Your donation will go to several sustainable projects.
THE BREAKDOWN: Where the money goes.
1st - The Vietnamese artist and their families get $12 per belt. In so doing you support democracy and the notion of free enterprise in a communist country under fair Trade circumstances. We don't have to tell you what $12 does for a family in Vietnam.
2 - Southwest Central Durham Quality of Life Emergency Relief Fund - the "Fund" gets $6 per belt. This is a fund established by UNC students who raised $8039 for the SWCD community to provide a direct way for the community to help the elderly and others in need with a short term, one time, financial assistance with no strings, payback or red tape. SWCD QOL is the premier activist volunteer group in Durham, NC effecting positive change with Duke University and the Duke Durham Neighborhood Partnership (DDNP).
3 - Natural Environmental Ecological Management - N.E.E.M. an activist organization promoting Sustainable Development in the Global Community and currently raising money and working with a Village in Kenya (the HERA WOMEN'S GROUP) on Sustainable Development, $6 will go to N.E.E.M. and $3 will plant two Neem Tree's five years from maturity. Neem will allow the village to protect itself organically from Malaria, dengue, HIV/AIDS and a host of other applications; they become sustainable in their agriculture and economy while reducing chemical dependency. How cool is that.
4 - Latin America Working Group (LAWG) & ECDET - $3 per belt goes to LAWG in its partnership with the Washington Office on Latin Affairs (WOLA) The premier groups in DC working in the Latin Basin, the Caribbean and Cuba to effect positive change. The most dynamic group on Latin issues in Washington.
The balance or $6 is shipping from Vietnam and minimal administrative cost.

ALL organizations are activist, all volunteer or NGO’s without 501 C 3 tax status so you cannot write off the purchase.
*We encourage you to donate separately to these groups - see links below.
Please go to the Contributions page to donate electronically or you may also mail in your donation.

$100 plus Donors also get the cherry wood belt so please leave your waist size and e-mail your ship address - thanks.

Volunteer Your Time

Connect with your community, volunteer for Habitat for Humanity or a similar local developer to help those in need.

Community is communal, it is the cooperative spirit of Americans to rise to the occasion and do for ourselves in a cooperative movement what we do globally every day.

Register for an Upcoming Event

We will list local projects once we have established a calendar and identified groups you may work with and when your time would be required. Please be patient while we develop this list of local and national efforts where you may volunteer.

Milestones and Achievements:

2007 & 2008 UNC Chapel Hill students raise $8039 for Southwest Central Durham Quality of Life Emergency Relief Fund. The 2008 UNC class raised the complimentary additional $5000+. These monies are for emergency no strings relief to members in need from the neighborhoods and managed by the community. The Community was touched by this effort; we hope the students were in the process.
NOW WE WANT TO ADD TO THAT FUND.

N.E.E.M. is an activist organization with methods of operation that have the purpose of affecting public and/or private sector policies or decisions that impact human health, the environment or community and sustainability through promotion and education of effective, naturally occurring biological alternatives.
