Date To Be Announced
The Natural Environmental Ecological Management (NEEM) Organization has reached the last level of negotiation with the
applicable Ministries and the Government of Cuba to bring about a Pan American Conference and study on NEEM and sustainability.
The focus is Malaria, Dengue Fever, HIV/AIDS and other sustainable applications. A Letter of Intent has been drafted and pertinent
documents prepared. PANTP is a sustainable "Global Initiative" that promotes self reliance and sustainable economies
while saving lives organically!
Hawaii - switches from mono-culture with decrease in sugar production to diversify. Newly opened fields receive planting
of 50,000 Neem Tree's after success with Neem and Pineapple. Neem will be established in Hawaii for production, the first
large scale in the U.S. Hawaii much like Cuba for centuries was simply put a giant plantation. Plantings were not for the
people, they were for corporations. Cuba was first to step away from mono-crop systems and Hawaii is in the same process.
Diversity makes economic sense providing home grown goods, sustainably.
Dubai - takes steps towards a sustainable policy country-wide. A mirror of Cuba replacing chemical inputs with Neem.
CUBA
Cuba Produces Anti-Mosquito Product
Prensa Latina - October 24
Havana, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) Bactivec, a biological product produced in Cuba, will be used throughout the island against
the reproduction of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, the agent transmitting the disease, Granma
newspaper reported Tuesday.
Developed by the Cuban company Labiofam, the product rapidly destroys larvae of Culex, Anopheles and Aedes, the latter
a dengue and yellow fever carrier.
Bactivec results to fight this insect approved its application in the provinces with most mosquito deposits in the country,
the daily states. Over 62,000 liters of the product have been sprayed by a helicopter from the Revolutionary Armed Forces
in this capital and Havana province, as part of the health drive implemented in the island.
ECDET - Emergency Coalition to Defend Educational Travel
April 2007
The Brief has been filed on behalf of ECDET and other plaintiffs in the suit against OFAC that seeks to recover the First
Amendment protected right of U.S. professors and students to teach and study in Cuba.
Members of ECDET, seek to re-instate the privilege of Academics to travel freely. The positive impact the Academic Community
has when allowed free discourse is our "Army of the Minds". The OFAC Suit seeks to remedy this circumstance and
restore the right of Academic Exchange. The suit, win or lose, serves the purpose of bringing to the forefront while eliminating
a dangerous precedent; the inherent right of Academics to travel freely. It also serves to expose another layer of what is
a failed United States policy when it pertains to Cuba. CIP and the issuing attorney Robert Muse deserve the highest degree
of support and praise for seeking to protect academic freedom under the most ambiguous of circumstances.
Inhibitory potential of neem (Azadirachta indica Juss) leaves on dengue virus type-2 replication.
Division of Virology, Defence Research and Development Establishment, Gwalior 474 002, MP, India.
In the present study we report in vitro and in vivo inhibitory potential of crude aqueous extract of neem leaves and pure
neem compound (Azadirachtin) on the replication of Dengue virus type-2. In vitro antiviral activity of aqueous neem leaves
extract assessed in C(6/36) (cloned cells of larvae of Aedes albopictus) cells employing virus inhibition assay showed inhibition
in dose dependent manner. The aqueous extract of neem leaves at its maximum non-toxic concentration of 1.897 mg/ml completely
inhibited 100-10,000 TCID(50) of virus as indicated by the absence of cytopathic effects. The in vivo protection studies with
neem leaves extract at its maximum non-toxic concentrations 120-30 mg/ml resulted in inhibition of the virus replication as
confirmed by the absence of Dengue related clinical symptoms in suckling mice and absence of virus specific 511 bp amplicon
in RT-PCR. The pure neem i.e. Azadirachtin did not reveal any inhibition on Dengue virus type-2 replication in both in vitro
and in vivo systems.

Announcing
NEEM project in Kamagambo region of Kenya through the
HERA Women Group
NEEM project in Kamagambo region of Kenya through the
HERA Women Group - 2008
Contract negotiations with the HERA Women Group to establish Neem capability for Sustainable Agriculture and to provide
production capability for neem oil to fight Malaria and Dengue. N.E.E.M. will work with Duke Fuqua School, NET Impact MBA's,
ICIPE in Kenya and various groups in a cooperative effort. By promoting sustainable approaches to the long term fight against
these maladies while establishing sustainable economies and agricultural alternatives. N.E.E.M./HERA promotes self reliance
and additional supply lines of Neem. The HERA Women Group has established a cooperative to manage the tasks of men in the
village that have died from HIV/AIDS so that those duties once performed are distributed to this group. We herald these remarkable
women who have taken to task the responsibilities once delegated to the men. Think of it for a moment. Consider what and more
importantly WHY they have had to undertake this cooperative. To us at N.E.E.M. we applaud these brave individuals and their
organization and will work to bring a sense of self reliance and increased safety to the village through support of the Neem
Project there.
NEEM 2007 World Neem Conference from the NEEM Foundation:
21st - 24th November, 2007 in Coimbatore, India
It is with immense pleasure that we announce the 5th World Neem Conference has been held in Coimbatore, India. The dates
were 21st - 24th Nov, 2007. The Event organized by the Neem Foundation had been cancelled and moved to this new location and
date.
The Conference showcased the latest research efforts in neem from around the world. As the world has moved rapidly on
since the last conference on Neem which was in 2002, newer trends and dimensions to the potential of Azadirachta Indica were
presented and discussed.
The conference was an opportunity to understand and define the role of Neem in meeting sustainability challenges. Given
that the success of the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) could dramatically alter the condition of the worlds disadvantaged,
the Conference provided a platform for stake holders to evaluate technologies based on neem that have potential for uplifting
and enhancing the quality of life, the world over.
The World Neem Conference was a resounding success with International participants in attendance and papers from those
Neem proponents presented.
Malaria and AIDS
Malaria
One of the neem's components, gedunin (a limonoid), is as effective as quinine against malaria. Malaria affects millions
of people and is responsible for about 2 million deaths every year in India and several other countries. China has adopted
neem in a big way for its anti-malaria operation.
Because of growing problems of resistance to conventional treatments, it is becoming more and more difficult to control
malaria. Should neem products prove effective cure against malaria, the dream of complete eradication of malaria might become
a reality.
AIDS
AIDs - NEEM is an anti-virul and Clinical Trials are under way now for the use of NEEM as a natural, organic means of
treating AID's. Neem contains immune modulating polysaccharide compounds; the polysaccharide may be responsible for increasing
antibody production. Other elements of neem may stimulate immune function by enhancing cellular mediated response. This
dual action can help the body ward off the frequent infections that generally accompany AIDS.
When a process is sustainable, it can be carried out over and over without negative environmental effects or impossibly
high costs to anyone involved.
Introduce Neem to the process and it will be sustainable!
